Cecelia Carrillo has been the first Administrative Assistant to Office of Women’s Policy since they were created in 1998. Cecelia joined the OWP team in September of 2017. She jumped right in supporting the work OWP was involved in and assisted with hosting County of Santa Clara Domestic Violence Council 24th Annual Domestic Violence Conference. With an eagerness Cecelia was very passionate about assisting with the 17th Biannual Association for Justice-involved Females and Organizations (AJFO) Conference which the Office of Women’s Policy hosted in December of 2017. This was the first time this conference had been hosted on the West Coast of the United States and there were approximately 500 attendees.
Cecelia Came to the Office of Women’s Policy from County of Santa Clara Office of Reentry Services. She served as an Office Specialist. She has a natural welcoming personality and was able to greet clients who were transitioning back into society or coming in for regular services.
Cecelia has been with County of Santa Clara CEO’s Office since March of 2014. She completed County of Santa Clara Training of Office Professionals (TOPS) Spring 2015. Cecelia received Employee Excellence in March 2019 because of her dedication to community and volunteer work as a mentor with Bright Futures Mentor Program. This award followed with an award for Outstanding Employee of the Year 2019.
Cecelia was familiar with Office of Women’s policy because of her work with Reentry and her own lived experiences. She had participated in a program that Office of Women’s Policy had funded in 2012, Skills to Succeed. This program offered women training in non-traditional “women’s” work, Green Building Construction. She successfully completed that and then came on board with County of Santa Clara, Health and Hospitals at VMC as an Extra Help Janitor.
Cecelia is a Native to Santa Clara County. She is a mother, grandmother, and strong believer of a second chance at a first-class life, since she is able to live this dream come true.
